Aloft Liverpool Hotel, from Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Worldwide have released “I’m Coming Home” a result of their Busker Challenge, an Aloft Liverpool initiative to showcase talent from the streets of the city and raise money for charity over the festive period.
The team at Aloft Liverpool Hotel took to the streets where they discovered four individual artists, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their talent. They were set a challenge by the hotel to collaborate on a Christmas song with just 24 hours to write and record with proceeds from downloads going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The buskers involved in the project were aged between 14-20, including Sam Olyott, Daisy Gill, Katie Johnson and Toby Falla, and together they provided vocals, guitar, keys, cello, beat box and drums.
MOBO Unsung award winner Esco Williams, who also hails from Liverpool, was on hand to offer support on the challenge, leading a creative workshop with the buskers and providing them with a unique insight into life as a recording artist.
On the second day of the challenge, the buskers were taken to the world famous Parr Street Studios for recording, using Studio 2 which has previously been used by the likes of Oasis, Artic Monkeys and Coldplay.
The track, entitled “I’m Coming Home” is a festive track written around the buskers’ idea of Christmas and creating a sense of togetherness. The track is now available to download on iTunes here with all proceeds going to Macmillan.
